Charles Bronson, Liv Ullman, James Mason, and the gorgeous Jill Ireland star in this action packed movie about a ruthless drug runner who holds a man's family hostage. A great film for Charles Bronson fans.

Pretty Good
I'm not sure why there is criticism like there is, here. Apparently, the critics don't drive, much, or know little about vehicles of the '70's.
That sedan was handling pretty well in the cop chase.
No big surprise, given Bronson's skills.
Great movie.

Better than expected
Keep an open mind that this is an older movie where the big draw was supposed to be Charles Bronson, who I will admit doesn't do a very good acting job either. There are definitely misfires in the directing and editing as well, but overall it has a simplistic plot that was never meant to be believable (I hope not anyway), and even the cheeky ending is just a little too cheeky. It makes me wonder if this film was intended to draw a more international crowd based off of Bronson's screen presence alone. However, if you are a fan of the typical "action" movies of this period, it still does enough to keep things interesting, regardless of logic.

Mason is the least of it.
I've read that James Mason woudl take almost any role offered to him. "Cold Sweat" certainly supports that notion. Next time a British person pokes fun at an American's attempt at an english accent, you can return the favor by showing them Mason's attempt at "southern drawl".
But this is a film with misfires all over. Very uninteresting staging and lighting, poor editing, lame performances from most of the actors and a generally uninteresting plot.

Typical and Fairly Enjoyable
Watching Charles Bronson go through his surprise measured moves to overcome all who would defeat him is predictable. What is funny is hearing James Mason do a southern accent, and watch Jill Ireland (who in real life married Bronson) play a hippie. It is hard to fathom Liv Ulman playing Bronson's wife. Interesting casting. Worth viewing just to get a feel how Bronson became a worldwide superstar in the '70's.
